Ages 4 to 7
A neuroscience-informed group program that plants the seeds of musical understanding before formal private lessons begin.
Where Music Meets the Mind
The Childhood Music Program (CMP) is Anahit's signature early education offering. Developed over years of teaching young children, it draws on current neuroscience research showing that musical training in early childhood strengthens language acquisition, pattern recognition, coordination, and emotional regulation.
Classes run in small groups of 5 to 6 children, creating a social, playful, and structured environment where every child feels safe to explore sound, rhythm, and movement. Each level consists of 12 classes of 60 minutes, held at regular intervals.
Graduates of the CMP are exceptionally well-prepared to begin private piano, violin, voice, drum, or dance instruction.
An original educational program created and owned by Anahit Koutsouzian.

4 Levels
Each level builds on the last. Children earn a certificate upon completing each level, giving them a tangible milestone to celebrate.
Foundation of sound and rhythm
Introduction to musical concepts through song, movement, clapping games, and listening activities. Children learn to match pitch, keep a beat, and explore dynamics.
Completion CertificateBuilding musical language
Introduction to note names, basic rhythm notation, and simple melodies. Students begin reading music in a playful, image-based format and continue rhythmic work.
Progress CertificateMusical independence
Students read and play short pieces from notation, explore musical form (ABA, verse-chorus), and develop basic harmony awareness. Keyboard exploration is introduced.
Achievement CertificateReady for private lessons
Consolidation of all skills. Students perform short pieces at the recital, demonstrate listening and theory skills, and are fully prepared to begin private instrumental study.
CMP Graduate CertificatePitch matching, rhythm, notation, melody, and musical form are introduced progressively across all four levels.
Music training in early childhood strengthens pattern recognition, language acquisition, memory, and mathematical thinking.
Small group classes build listening, turn-taking, cooperation, and the experience of creating music together.
Movement, clapping, and rhythmic activities develop fine and gross motor coordination alongside musical awareness.
Each semester closes with a student recital. Children perform for family and fellow students, building confidence and the experience of sharing music with an audience. These are joyful, low-pressure events that mark each child's growth.
Graduates of all four CMP levels are exceptionally prepared to begin private instruction in any of the following disciplines.
CMP graduates enter piano study already reading notation, understanding rhythm, and comfortable at the keyboard.
Ear training and pitch matching in CMP gives violin beginners a significant head start in intonation.
A full program of singing games and vocal exploration makes the transition to formal vocal study natural.
Deep rhythmic training in CMP builds the foundation every percussionist needs before they pick up a stick.
Spaces are limited to 5 to 6 students per group. Contact Anahit to check availability.
